Reem Barghouty holds a Masters Degree with distinction in Biochemistry from the American University of Beirut and a degree in Management Development from Bradford University in the United Kingdom. Since her graduation in 1979, Ms. Barghouty has worked with the United Nations Relief Works Agency (UNRWA) in the area of pre-service and in-service training for the education staff as she has taken up a variety of posts until she became the first arab lady ever to take up the post of the Chief of the UNRWA / UNESCO Training Division at the UN regional office in Amman.

Ms. Barghouty has joined the Jordan Forum for Business and Professional Women(JFBPW) in 1985 and is now the President of the Forum. She is also the Arab States Coordinator in the International Federation of Business and Professional Women/BPW-International.
